User-Friendly and Reliable solution for streamlining company processes
Sloneek helped us unify the agenda, speed up our work, and thanks to its intuitive environment, it was quickly adopted by both employees and management, with hopes for further improvements in reporting and onboarding in the future.

Sensible Biotechnologies is a Slovak company that deals with the production of mRNA molecules for various types of vaccines. The future of mRNA therapeutics and vaccines potential is limited by outdated production methods. Sensible Biotechnologies accelerates the development of the next generation of mRNA therapeutics by producing non-immunogenic, pure and highly functional mRNA. It’s working on a new mRNA production model to create a critical biomanufacturing infrastructure for global biosecurity.

Beginnings of HR in Sensible Biotechnologies

This biotech start-up employs 25 people working in several European countries and in America too. They’re mostly scientists working in laboratories. The others, administration and management jobs, work remotely. Akos Melecske is in charge of HR agenda. Except of personnel issues, he handles also financial management and, as he says, everything that isn’t science.

When he joined Sensible Biotechnologies, the company was using Notion and Excel to manage the agenda. Considering that he isn’t only in charge of HR, he needed a tool that would make his job easier.

“I got Sloneek mainly because of frustration. The agenda was incoherent. Because of constant searching and rewriting, everything took a lot of time. When I mentioned it to our company consultants in Slovakia, they recommended Sloneek. And given the time pressure, I didn’t even look for other options and approached Sloneek straight away,” says Akos Melecske, Head of Finance and Operations.

Implementation on the go

The company embarked on the implementation of the new HRIS quite spontaneously. According to the CFO, there was no time. He prepared a “project”, outlined the steps and individual tasks and what he wanted to test in the new system. Gradually, he started the implementation with the support of customer manager David Baláš.

“I was explained the basics and then I gambled on debugging a number of things while using the app. I organised training session for the employees where I answered basic questions and got them familiar with the system. Thanks to the fact that our team is young consisting mostly of the scientists, it was quite easy for my colleagues to get used to the new system,” Melecske says.

The employees adapted to Sloneek relatively quickly and the CFO said that the new technology didn’t surprise them. The fact that it isn’t a big corporation where bureaucracy prevails but the company that has innovation and flexibility in its blood, certainly plays a role.

“From management point of view, I have only positive feedback on Sloneek. Thanks to the user-friendly environment, the employees like it as well,” Melecske states.

Sloneek saved time and it will help with onboarding

He’s satisfied too. The outcome correspondent with expectations- Sloneek saved time. For now, it’s one working day a month. In the future, with wider use of the system, it may be more. Sloneek is currently used to approve the attendance and leave requests and it also helps a lot with the reports which can be processed faster now.

In addition to the reports, Melecske appreciates the online environment that allows everyone to use the system from anywhere. Sloneek has also helped with time management. Management can more easily approve everything needed what makes the whole process much more efficient and transparent than doing it via e-mail. All documents are in one place and not scattered in folders and mail.

“We’d like to use other modules in the future. Next year, we’ll invest and expand our team, so we’ll definitely use the onboarding module,” Akos Melecske plans and adds: “We’d welcome improvements in the report section, where we lack more modularity, as well as the assessment section.”

“Feedback from our customers is really valuable to us. Thanks to this, we can constantly improve the system and adapt it to the needs of HR specialists. At the same time, we offer the opportunity to participate in development testing. When developing the application, we try to use real experience of our customers as much as possible,” Milan Rataj, founder of Sloneek, comments.

Overall, there’s satisfaction in the company. Sloneek helped to implement processes, saved HR time and management keeps a tight rein on everything.
